Platinum
Dear all,

I am Gold (for the first time).

1200 status credits by the end of October and (only) 38,700 miles (I have used them for upgrades).

I need to 200 status credits by the end of November to achieve Platinum.

Any suggestions about the best way to achieve this?

Thanks,

Michael

Any of the above the options could work.

Have you got any travel planned for November?

200 is ~ 15% short of the required 1400
If you spend some real moneyto get Plat, will you get any benefits for that money?
As gold you have Q club access

WP is great when doing international travel.

SG no Flounge

Thanks for your various suggestions.

1. My review date is 30 Nov and I have NO travel planned for November.

2. Is it worth it? Gold is wonderful but now I am at 1200 SCs, Platinum is enticing. I fky to NZ four or five times (eight this year) each year, so the chance of the F lounge is luring.

So, should I just count my 'gold' blessings ...

or, could I realistically achieve Platinum by 30 Nov?

Thanks,

Michael

I just had a 200sc weekend with ADL-SYD-CBR JASA return. 48k points though. If you could beg/borrow/steal 10k points (family transfers have recently improved) you could JASA SYD-ADL-MEL return and get 200sc

Lots of posts here have shown how you can get it by end Nov. And requalification is only 1200 SCs, i.e. where you are now.

And those four, five or even eight times in the F lounge are well worth it. :)

If you don't mind a ninth trip to NZ this year...you could do the LA run SYD-AKL in J combined with JQ AKL-ZQN with the max bundle on 1 segment gives 205 SCs (160 + 30 + 15)

A possibly important consideration is that re-qualification is only 1200SC, so if you fly as much in the next membership year, you'll have no problems keeping it. That said you might find once you pop, you can't stop ;)

And that 200 will more than likely ensure two years of QP worst case.

From post 1 SC's needed by 31 Oct. So 22 days plus next year until 31 Oct 2014
Your missing the point, gaining those 200 SCs will also get a soft landing, so worst case it's SG until Oct 2015. Puts a different spin on the value of those 200 SCs.

I say that if you are close to WP, go for it. Then you will have at least one year as WP, then you can decide if WP gives you the experience you expected, if not, then don't bust a gut trying to re qualify each year, there are plenty on this site who are content with SG with no ambition to do upgrades or SC runs or round about routing each year just to retain WP
