Hi,

Quick question I can't seem to find the answer to. If I book flights BNE - SIN return on expedia.com.br and then flights from Singapore to Europe with Emirates/Qantas, can I put them together to "fly through" so my bags are checked through to Europe from Brisbane and it is all on the 1 itinerary? That way I can just transit in the airport rather than doing the whole customs/bags dance….

The stopover is about 5 hours each way in Singapore, so should be plenty of time either way, would be nice to have it all sorted as one trip though.

Thanks for your help.

You cannot combine them but if you show your boarding pass on checkin it should be possible to through check your bags.

Thanks Mark. So you mean if I do an online checkin for my Sing-Dubai-Prague leg and show that boarding pass in Brisbane when I hand in my bags?

Yes, or just show the itin.

I had similar experience but with separate QF and AA PNRs.

Absolutely no issue on check in: all baggage was tagged to final (AA) destination.

BPs too

All she muttered was 'Ah, all OneWorld'

I've also been able to interline from QF to SQ and vice versa when travelling through Changi... very handy.

Thanks for your help everyone. Our SIN stopover is 5 hours - so not too uncomfortable if it doesn't work on the day - would be much easier though to just check it all the way from BNE.

Ta.

Wow !

How could the computer systems of two separate (airline) alliances mesh in to interline baggage ?

Never thought it is possible, so never ask !

QF baggage number: how does that recognised in the SQ systems ???

I am confused.

Apparently it's something special to do with Changi. Qantas was even able to print my SQ boarding pass (on Qantas stock) in Adelaide, which blew my tiny little mind.

Your confusing Interline agreements with alliances, and IATA sets the baggage tag standards for that very reason, so everyone can read the codes etc.

Changi does have some special arrangements however QF interlines with SQ elsewhere as well, in fact their interline agreements are quite large, however they no longer through check on separate PNRs for non OneWorld members, if your travel agent books QF and SQ on one PNR, no issues.

Yes, I was.

Thought the interlining only works WITHIN an alliance.
