BA have a flight to DME with F availability. AA online do not show F online. I have called twice and been told Y and B are only allowed. They cannot see the F and have no idea why it is not available as an AAD reservation.
Has anyone been able to book LHR-DME as a award flight or has any knowledge as to why it is not bookable?

You can only book it as a connecting flight. I booked SYD-LHR-DME all in F. I was contacted by AA a few weeks after booking and told there was a plane change and no F cabin :( They now only fly twice a week with a F cabin. My trip is next week.

I can see availability on BA233 in F when I search Aus to DME.....

AA hasn't been any good to me the last few weeks through the Aus call centre, rang the US today and the flights were on hold within 15 mins :)

When I searched Aust to DME all flights were available in F, however I wanted a stopover in LHR. This requires two awards. When I went to book the second award later F does not show for AA although availability exists on BA search.
It appears F is only available when it is part of a booking involving another zone.
I cant see anything in AA rules which would not allow a stand alone LHR-DME booking in F, but it cant be booked as it appears AA system does not contemplate F intra Europe.
Has anyone had any success booking LHR-DME as an intra Europe award?

This issue has been around since at least 2013. As you say, AA cannot book LHR-DME in isolation. There is no applicable 'F' redemption for intra-Europe, the award level simply doesn't exist.

however you can book it in conjunction (single award) with other international travel, as mentioned by paul_gibson above.

While there may not be a 'rule' as such against F class for LHR-DME, it's the same as premium economy awards through AA. There isn't an applicable award level to redeem them.

I was just looking at this, so sad that you can't use AA miles for LHR-DME on BA F.
This is despite the award chart having a column for "Business/First" and "First".. with no mileage entry under F :(
The QFF equivalent is 56k points and GBP ~73.
