Hi all

Staying at Hilton Tokyo in about a month, cost is 488,000 yen total (prepaid rate). It's quite a long stay. Pre tax and service fees is 388,800 yen.

I have registered for the double points promotion, and I am diamond HHonours, so get double points again I think (100% elite bonus)?

Can anyone give me any idea on approx how many HHonours points I might earn?

I am hoping to use the points, plus my existing 100k points to stay for free in London next year.

Thanks in advance! :)

If i remember correctly, it should be base points plus diamond bonus (%100 base) plus double points bonus (%100 of base)

Base is 10 points per eligible US dollar. The diamond bonus would be plus 10 points and the double points would be plus 10 points (as it's only double on base).

The should results in 30 points per US dollar. As 480,000 yen is approx. 4500 USD you should earn approx. 135000 points.

Assuming i remember the calculations correctly :)

Excellent. Thanks. That's around what I thought it might be. Let's hope that the calculations at Hiltons end work out the same!

Now for the tough decision, so we use points for a completely free stay in London at DoubleTree or do we get an approx half price luxury Hilton stay. Decisions decisions!

I agree with bullerdude that you should get 30 points per USD. However you are not meant to get points on taxes paid. For your net payment of 388,000 points you add the service charge of 13% to get a figure net of taxes of 438,000 yen, which is approximately USD 4,055. If that is the basis they award points, then you should receive around 121,650 points.

Hmmm OK, so there is 13% tax, 10% tax and 200 yen per night tax. I'm 99.9% sure Hilton calculate it wrong too, as they charge the second tax on top of the full cost, instead of based on the pre-tax price.

Anywho, I will lower my expectations accordingly. Thanks for the tip!

I don't recall getting earn on anything other than the base rate before +++. So no earn on Taxes and Service charges.

Even in Oz, they take 9.09% off to allow for GST.
