I'm travelling to the UK in November and doing a trip to Cairo (Pyramids, cruise down the Nile, etc) for 9 days with Gecko
http://www.geckosadventures.com/Middle-East/Trip/Overview.html?trip=Nile-Escape&tripid=3408

I'm travelling with two friends and we were hoping for a little bit of luxury at the end of the holiday. Any suggestions on where we could go at the end of the trip? We'd be leaving from Cairo. Anything in Cairo suitable? My friend thinks it might be a bit smelly and dirty and wants to relax by a pool/beach sipping coughtails for a couple of days to wind down from the desert trek. We will be eventually going back to London so even something on the way back might be suitable.

Suggestions from this forum are always very welcome!:)

If wanting to relax by a pool or the ilk, perhaps hop on a flight across from Cairo to Larnaca and spend a few days in Cyprus. I would be in the "get out of egypt once tour is over" camp

About a 1 hour flight on Cyprus airways for 352 miles to get there from CAI

I haven't been to Cairo let alone stayed there but in my experience you can't go past the Conrad hotels, of which there is one in Cairo.

There's a great Hilton compound down the Red Sea coast at Hurgarda.
Short flight from Cairo.
The bogans, russians, and germans go a short drive further south to the "resorts". So you should be safe.

It's possibly a bit out of your way if you are en route to London, but I've just been to the Marriott Resort on the Dead Sea in Jordan after visiting Petra and Wadi Rum. It's not far from Amman and Royal Jordanian flies to both Cairo and London.
