Cathay Pacific used to be in the Q FF program but can't find it anymore, anyone know if its possible to fly this route on CP?.

Should be, but finding availability on CX flights through the QF web site award engine is suspect to say the least.

Cathay are one world like QF so no issues with either FF program, however the service has been changed recenly by CX with more direct BNE services, there is no service arriving or departing Cairns on Mondays.

CX award seats do not show on the QF FF web site for booking award flights. You have to book these over the phone and pay the extra 2500 assisted booking fee. This has been the situation for a few years now.

And be aware that the planes servicing HKG -> CNS/ BNE are inferior to those going to SYD/ MEL. regional vs long haul seats which I've experienced as a very rude shock on J and Y.

Hence why I am routing BNE-MEL-HKG.

You are unlikely to see CX award flight availability on the Qantas website. This issue has been around for ~2 years now. Qantas have told me that CX does not release award flight information to QF but then how can QF see CX award flight availability when you call the QFF service centre.

The sceptic in me thinks that QF intentionally does not show CX award flight availability on the QF website so you end up booking QF flights and have to call QFF service centre when desperate for CX award flight availability.

When you say "route", are you referring to Cathy?

Re: Cairns to HK via Cathay?

I got around to Calling QFF, said plenty of seats for time we want to go April 09), its a rought, can't get the seats on line but can if you call and loose 2,500 points each. it stinks.

Came back in J class last trip from HK, correct, old planes with not too comfortable seats, might consider going out of Sydney instead this time.
