Cairns Hilton vs Novotel Oasis Resort

Looking to stay in Cairns for one night during March 2 adults 1 fifteen yo. Looking at either the Hilton ($178 night Gold upgrade and breakfast as Gold member) or Novotel ($145 includes breakfast then platinum room upgrade).
Which is the nicer of the two or should we stay elsewhere? Status with both hotels is complimentary not earned. Thanks for any help

Hilton without doubt.

I would avoid the Oasis - much better around, and the Hilton is one of them.

Thanks for your quick reply. Do they automatically upgrade or do I need to request the upgrade - by contacting them or upon checkout?

If your Gold HHonors number is in the booking, then they will automatically upgrade you upon Checkin. (sometimes you can see the upgrade online around 24 hours before).

I've been upgraded 100% of my stays, sometimes to an executive room, sometimes a spa room.
