Buying Qatar Avios

I just bought some items on eBay UK and received notification I would be getting Avios credited to my BA account. (I'm based in Oz). If the Australian seller is listed on ebay.co.uk you can just buy and ship it to your home address just as if you bought off ebay.com.au for the same price and shipping.

When you compare Qatar to Emirates and Etihad, which of the three release more business class seats for redemption ?

Etihad and Emirates probably offer the most award seats to their own members (and have less competition for seats than Qatar), but they also have higher prices and, in Etihad's case, far worse cancellation policies.

AY Avios 100% bonus sales have been my primary source but QR at 60%+ appears better value. Have Mel/Mxp and Mel/Ist in J this year on Avios but had to book Ist/Adl for the return.

I don't see a bonus offer in my account upon logging in. just usual option to purchase Avios.

I do have a Boost option as I earnt a few thou from transferring from a partner hotel, I can boost upto x6 which earn rate is 2.25c per point, fraction better than the example of buying 250k with 50% bonus @2.35c/p

I was just doing that exact same calculation. I thought the boost was actually a bit better rate but I’ll go back and doublecheck.

You'll get way better 3x boost prices on BA, then you can transfer to Qatar. If you book a hotel through Avios.com until the end of the month you get 15x Avios per pound, and the ability to boost those Avios at around 1.21 AU cents per Avio.

*Edit: The boost option seems to have disappeared. :( But the 15 Avios per pound is still active until Feb 27.
