Buying Marriott points with Amex

Anyone tried buying Marriott points recently and combine it with Amex $100 off promotion? I know the T&C says its only for hotel stays but is it working?
 
No, it will not be stack as the "buy points" is listed on "points.com" where your Amex card will only regnoise it as 'point.com" instead of Marriott.

BTW, where did you get the $100 off offer?
 
When I had this offer some months back you had to spend through the hotel direct.

So for that offer it would not have worked to buy points.

Is there a new Marriott offer out?
