I've seen cove refer to the excellent strategy of buying Hyatt gift cards at a discount from one of the online US retailers of the same for use when staying at Hyatt hotels. These seem to only be valid for North American Hyatts though - is there any similar scheme for Hyatts elsewhere?

Also, how are they used - when settling the bill at check-out? How does that work if you want to use a prepaid rate?

Interesting subject working out how to use gift cards in the US. Raise.com,giftcardgranny.com or cardpool.com are 3 US sites I have looked at. Have not done a Hyatt check out but we will have staff use a Hyatt in November so we will want the conference rate plus use the gift card.
I will work on this in a week's time when we are in Los Angeles with a US computer address and printer to acquire a number of gift cards.
