Flying Dublin to Canberra in 10 days.

We flew out Business Class and it was superb to Doha - the "seats" are so spacious, and work well for couples. Doha to Dublin the seats are angled away from each other, making it much less of a shared experience, and the seats weren't as roomy.

Anyhow, we're returning cattle class, so I was looking at getting seats in a section of three and paying for the third, but I can't find the option to purchase a neighbouring seat in the app or website. It will be somewhat dependent on the price.

Are these perhaps only released closer to the date?

Qantas allow you to purchase an extra seat for such comfort purposes; you pay the base fare only, not any +++. However, you have to call to do so. (Frequent flyer Points and SC's can be earned for the extra seat.)

Qatar have this to say in their trade portal:

Extra Seat for Personal Comfort

Some passengers may request an extra seat (EXST) on QR operating flights for either their personal comfort or for medical reasons.

Please ensure that ASR (Advanced Seat Reservation ) is done at all times. ...

You might have had to have done this at the time of by our original booking… not sure if an extra seat can be added to an existing PNR. But maybe worth calling?

The fare would have been whatever the fare for an economy seat was at the time you made the booking, minus additional taxes and fees by the look of serfty's post.

So pretty inexpensive.
