I'm thinking of buying a 1 way ticket from Bkk to Syd using the QF web site, but this appears:
After you have completed your booking you will need to visit our office below within two working days for credit card and signature verification. Your ticket will be issued once your credit card has been sighted.
Bangkok Office
Tour East (Thailand)#, 21st Floor, Charn Issara Tower I, 942/160-163 Rama 4 Road, Silom, Bagrak
Open hours: 8.30am-5pm Mon to Fri
Phone: +66 (2) 236 2800
As I'm in Sydney, anyone have suggestions to get around it?

Ring up the QANTAS FF Service Centre. More than likely they will say that you don't need to show your card, or you can just show it at your local QANTAS centre.

Book it on expedia.com, where it seems to be cheaper anyway?

That was exactly what i did for our going home trip end of last year. Per local credit card oayment rule, one still needed to show up at the QF local sales office in BKK to pay and confirm those surcharges etc.. i wasn't able get out of the face to face visit.

My experience too. The Expedia suggestion is a good one. If you try to book a OW/return fare into Sydney from Asia the best prices seem to be on the QF website. You do pay a surcharge booking through QF in Australia or using Expedia.

Given that QF tickets exSEAsia appear to be 12 month tickets and all are substantially cheaper than exAustralia.....

Can you not think of a reason to return within 12 months?

Happily wandering as I wonder

NB are you booking an award ticket or a paid ticket?
I can get an award seat from Syd to Bkk, but can't get an award seat back on the date I want...so I'm looking to buy a seat back to Syd from Bkk. The expedia.com suggestioon is a good one, and it also seems that ba.com does not have the annoying face to face credit card rule that the QF website has.
Unfortunately, the fare seems the cheapest on the QF website...
