Apparently S7 Airlines (a Oneworld airline based in Russia) will sell you the equivalent of Oneworld Sapphire status for 15,000 rubles (around $325) per month, with a minimum purchase period of one month.

Personally I wouldn't do this as it must surely be cheaper just to do a few status runs if you were desperate for status. An interesting development nonetheless.

You don't receive a physical membership card - although Oneworld Sapphire should appear on your boarding pass.

Still at almost $4k per year, with the right choice of flights you could almost get Emerald,

Or Qantas Club is a lot cheaper if mostly domestic.
Sadly the AA 30-day pass is no longer available

Comparing this to the now defunct AA 30-day pass seems fitting, and this would actually provide slightly better value if you had no status as it opens up all Oneworld airlines lounges plus some extra status benefits along the way.

I guess the more interesting thing would be if you could then use said status to match to another airline!

I suspect most airlines would catch on pretty quickly if this happened, and would most likely respond by refusing matches from anyone with S7 status.*

As if selling status wasn't bad enough, this would even further devalue S7 status for those who've earned it legitimately.

*Then again, who knows - the frequent flyer world constantly surprises me!
