If you don't have quite enough to redeem your dream award flights, you can buy Finnair Plus points and receive up to 50% more. For example, buy 40,000 points and receive 8,000 additional points.

  • Buy 1,000–4,000 points = No additional points
  • Buy 5,000–29,000 points = 10% additional points
  • Buy 30,000–69,000 points = 20% additional points
  • Buy 70,000–100,000 points = 50% additional points
Buy points now and book award flights to the destination of your dreams right away – this offer is only available 8 November–9 December 2018.

Very good for DXB-HEL and TLV-HEL business upgrades @ 10,000 points.

The Big UPGRADE Thread – all you need to know about AY upgrades - FlyerTalk Forums

Has anyone here upgraded an economy award ticket to business using Finnair points?

Does anyone follow Finnair & buying their points for relative value of this or past offers?

This works out to about US$10 per thousand Vs ~US$30-33 per thousand for the other popular schemes.

With a quick look at:
HEL-SIN direct on AY, Finnair points = 55K, AA Saver miles = 35K, AS miles = 32.5K in economy
HEL-LIS direct on AY, Finnair points = 19K, AA Saver miles = 12.5K, AS miles = 12.5K in economy
SYD-HKG or SIN direct on QF, Finnair points = 150,000 #, AA Saver miles = 35K, AS miles = 22.5K in economy
DOH-LHR on QR, Finnair points = 110,000 #, AA Saver miles = 20K, AS miles = 22.5K in economy
LAX-JFK on AA, Finnair = 45K, AA = 12.5K economy, AS miles = 12.5K in economy

# I checked - not a mistake, at least not on my part

... conclude that for flights on AY metal, buying their miles looks an OK option (as opposed to buying AA or AS miles), but lousy for other metal flights.

Sux that the 50% bonus only kicks in from 70k miles purchases, last year the minimum was 10k to get the 50%.

And back again!
