Landed at SYD, quick through immigration thanks to SmartGate; still thinking nice thoughts about Qantas after a great F flight. Then a bloody irritating wait for bags. "Priority bags" my cough, Qantas! Nice thoughts about Qantas evaporating. There was a free mix of J tagged and non 'priority' tagged bags at first; it was 3 minutes of the bags appearing on the carousel before I saw a F tagged one and 15 mins before mine appeared.

IMHO the blame falls solely on the TWU for the delivery of this service!

checked my QFF account. Oops - what's up here:

Well, OK, take the 45K points for the F upgrade, but I think I'm supposed to get the J points and SCs that were paid for  :) I'll give 'em a few days to get it right, then (sigh) call them. Last time I had to do this, I was knocked back two times, only to succeed on the third.

Weird. The points and SC posted correctly for the four of us in DEC.

for reading, and for the comments. I recommend CX J <snip> The Wing Lounge in HKG. QF F if you are lucky enough to afford it, in either cash or points.

Couldn't agree more!

Awesome, loved it! Can't wait to see what you did in LA for the day trip.

Great TR RooFlyer - very enjoyable. Thanks for taking the time to write, photograph and post!

Thanks Rooflyer just spent a pleasant Sunday evening reading your TR love your report on Galgary somewhere I will probably never get to, but have met people who live about a 6 hour drive from Galgary so obviously they live in real mountain country, have no idea what -35 feels like and have no intention of finding out any time soon, can only imagine. Thanks for taking the time to post your TR.

RooFlyer - great report, and as an Aussie who lived in Calgary from 1995 to 2012 I can voucher for the factual (non-BS) information about YYC. :) In fact, my family and I are moving back to YYC at the end of this year. I worked at WestJet for 16 years, and I would highly recommend flying with them next time between YYC and LAX. But I am bias. ;)

Thanks bdruce :) Once I get my requal on AC this year, yes, I really must give WestJet a go.

I guess you have been following the fortunes of the Flames. I think they call it a 'rebuilding' year - but playing 8 or 9 rookies a game is some re-build!

Love the wing and a good soak in the bath between long flights. Shame Qantas has cut the status credits on OW flights. If you dont do a lot of international flights you now have to fly Qantas to keep status

On a quick review it seems the main impact on OW flights SC devaluation is on routes serviced by Qantas (eg MEL-HKG on CX). Halved.

But for CX HKG-YVR there is only a small devaluation (160 becomes 140, or thereabouts). Why there should be any I don't know. Flying that route on CX, or any other airline can't impact QF revenue.

Beating the Oilers is all that matters. :)

Thanks RooFlyer, I'm a bit late to the party but really enjoyed the TR, thanks for taking the time and great pix.
