Business Rewards Points Argument

26/10 I paid for QF37 MEL to SIN, & QF1 SIN to LHR;

QF37 was around 6 hours delayed so i missed QF1; Qantas put me on a Qatar flight to Doha and then onto London

Business Rewards team say I cannot receive any points for the QF1 leg because I was put on Qatar ie I did not fly Qantas

But the only reason I did not fly Qantas was due to Qantas QF37 delay

They say this is the T&C's of the Business Rewards programme; it is certainly not reasonable, do i have any case for a claim here ?

Thanks

Is ORC a thing for QBR purposes?
Should be, it’s not part of the QFF t&C’s and the customer completed the contract requirements to earn QBR points, so should be given ORC.
Sorry but no idea what is an Original Routing Credit ?
The phrase you use when asking for a manager at QBR, essentially asking for credit based on flights booked before changes were made by QF. When Qantas sold you the flight, they made an invitation to treat, ie book with us and you will get a bundle of rights and privileges. They have failed to deliver on those due to circumstances under their control, and need to restore benefits as advertised.

When an airline rebooks you involuntarily on another flight/airline causing a lesser points earn, you can request "original routing credit" to obtain the points & status credits as booked.

My advice would be to ensure the passenger flying does this first to ensure their QFF activity statement reflects the QF1 flight, then QBR may be more responsive.

You (or the passenger, if not you) can request ORC by emailing [email protected]. Include a copy of the e-ticket as booked, any advisory emails/SMS about the involuntary change, and boarding passes for the QR flights (ideally).

Thank you !

Following up on this; i have already received my Qantas Frequent Flyer points for this flight, so i guess i already have ORC.

But not for Business Rewards, you need to ring and ask for original routing credit for business rewards for the flight that was changed by Qantas

Yes, but it can be a slow boat to get them because they’re not used to it and it doesn’t automatically following on from the individuals FF activity. They’re quite seperate.

A few months ago, we had an involuntary downgrade from PE to whY HNL-SYD. The email notification said we’d get points / SCs as per original booking (in addition to the $ compensation). Sure enough, the flight posted in our personal accounts as whY (and whY DSCs) but the activity was automatically amended to PE points and SCs (I did have to chase the DSCs adjustment - which was quick).

Over in QBR, it just posted as whY and no amendment. After a week or two I called but it then took a few weeks before those additional points arrived. It was a relatively small amount but meant the difference between ticking over Level 2 or staying Level 1 for another year.
