Business Classic award seat SYD - JNB (availability)

Hi all,

I am looking for Business Classic award seat from SYD - JNB and there is no availability for any dates in 2018.

Previously I had no problems finding a number of flights but it seems strange there is nothing. Recently lost gold status and no silver, just wondering if it's possible that I'm no longer being shown business class seats (there are plenty of economy seats available) or whether these seats haven't been released?

Looking for mid June 2018 so it seems strange that nothing is available and I have searched pretty much the entire year with no luck.. Can anyone suggest why?

With little to no status you are up against it, but need to look at what options you can do to help find the elusive availability.

So it's likely I'm not being shown the business class fairs due to status downgrade.
I have found flights via HKG on QF and the on to JNB with CX. I guess I may just have to enjoy a few days off in HK!

It is the case with QF that they show better availability in long-haul premium cabins to people with QF status.

If you have any relatives with Gold (or higher status), you may wish to ask them if they can see any seats. If so, transfer the points to them and get them to book.

Several times I have been denied the release of a J award seat on JNB-SYD, even when all J buckets were showing 9s. It may well be your status but there's also a very good chance it's a sign of Qantas's stinginess.

As a P1 I can see no availability either on the QF website for June 2018. There is an option outbound on Sunday 24th on EK via DXB but that involves at least one leg flown in Economy.

I've never had too much problem getting J award seats (as a WP) when they first open up. I got 4 J seats JNB-SYD in July this year (having booked around 353 days beforehand). Has Qantas tightened up the availability?
