I'm doing a business class trip from Larnaca to Sydney (via AUH).
I have read a few reviews on Etihads narrowbody J product, but I am not sure which seat to select (I am tempted to try and book row 1 if there is extra leg room)

Has anyone flown that can share their experiences?

I think it depends a bit on the aircraft. So it may differ for each leg.

Half of the window seats in Business Class are very very private, whereas the other half are open to the aisle. Finding out which is which is tricky. You may need to use one of the flight information websites like SeatGuru. Even then I would suggest you check in as early as you can at the airport and double-check that you have the type of seat you want (particularly for the long flights). The lounges are so pleasant, that it won't be wasted time (eat drink and be merry), and you'll have a much better in-flight experience.

I don't think the front row will make a lot of difference in Business Class. (It probably won't be row 1 anyway, if there's First Class on the aircraft).

Row 1 on the 320 is fine, I sat in 1C and 1D and I found the leg room was great (I'm 6'4")
