business class or first class

Looking for business class seat or first class seat Melbourne to Los Angeles but seems to have no availability only available is economy class leaving Melbourne newt February 2017.
Is this the current standard for Qantas, thought the pattern was to book approximately 11 and half months ahead to get these priority seat.
Only a bronze member so this might be the reason for no seats.

You are about a month and a half late, that's all.

As I was taught some time ago, early birds get the worm.

And, that's unchanged for as far as I can remember.

Many of us gets it timed to the seconds, calling up before the seats are released then ask the agent to 'refresh' the screen by the time the clock ticks over. So, imagine leaving that for another six weeks!

At this point - it seems - you may be restricted to using an Asian-based partner for anything other than Y (unless you have a SG+ cousin willing to book for you )

Have you considered routing through SFO? Maybe a slight chance of a J seat noting there is no F on this route.

You may have to look for the flight to SFO and then purchase another ticket to LAX.

If you have a look at post #141 on that linked thread you'll see I had a look at SYD-SFO availability for NB a week ago.

"SFO: Only Y on QF. No premium offered in any form. WP has various days with all 3 classes on QF73."

Bizarrely, now appears to be only showing QF availability for NB, resulting in return availability on only 2 days.

I'd be looking to snap up the outbounds before they disappear again.

One option would be to book a paid Y+ fare when it is on sale and try to upgrade to J using points but as a bronze member the chances of getting the upgrade would be slim.

If you're suggesting the OP upgrade, that's a gamble and having no status they're not likely to get any upgrade on MEL-LAX (high demand route).

I was looking for AU-EU awards in Jan 2017 a few weeks ago (at T-330ish) and there were almost none. I have all kinds of EF alerts setup in the unlikely event that any become available. As a WP I can say the EU awards aren't wide open in F for us (not sure about J). I think QF are just restricting it over peak times and the few that are released are instantly snapped up.

FWIW I found one mid-Jan and redeemed it on AA miles, but it's not my ideal routing hence the EF alerts (but was available to me as an AA nobody).

AS NB, the few QF J BNE-LAX I can see for early Feb, are NOT reflecting as available on EF for me....
