Has anyone ever come across a oneworld partner business class ticket that does not earn any SCs or FF points with QFF? I'm aware of some discount economy fares that aren't eligible but never heard of business class not eligible. Seems I have disappointingly stumbled across one.

S7 from memory didn't have all J fare buckets earning on QFF. Otherwise you are usually okay. If a flight isn't crediting then it could always be an error - I had a CX segment recently not earn but they were trying to process it as first not business for some reason so manually it was corrected. Details of course would help ;)

It was a discount business class ticket on AA, called R class. It appeared on my statement as a discount economy flight with no points or SCs (but as i received an operational upgrade on boarding to first class, i assumed it was that old system error thats happened to me before). I have had 4 calls and as many emails with QFF and they just say that R class is not covered in their contract with AA and it's just one of those "oh well" cases. Yet my colleague on the same flight and same R class received full points and SCs, but QFF tell me that was an error. My travel agent tells me that R class and D class (which definitely earns points) are exactly the same price. Just seems bizarre to me. Do I really need to look up business class fare earnings tables from now on??

(also when I spoke to AA they said that fare earns full points on their program)

R isn't on the earning table so maybe you're colleague got lucky. If it was an op-up then your paid booking class applies. That is normal. For instance recently booked in Y but given J boarding pass, credited as full economy pts + sc. Sometimes, like you're colleague it stuffs up in your favour and you keep quiet - I've had a U ticket become J and credit.

Searching for R class, it comes up as usually upgrade inventory. I can't see any way to get those SC's to be honest. Maybe you should credit to AAdvantage at worst.

Yes I understand that. But it was a business class fare which got upgraded to first, so I was expecting business class points/SCs not first class. It seems bizarre that there are business class fares on partner airlines that earn no points.

Do you have the original e-ticket? (pre-upgrade) If so what booking class does it show?
