I recently travelled from TSV-BNE-SYD & return in Business class, both ways booked using points. I have just checked my activity statement & I have not been given any SC's for these flights, however they show on the statement with 0 SC's beside them. Also on the 4 flights we did not get the QF noise cancelling headphones, have they stopped using them to save money.

If they were ¨classic award¨ bookings you are not entitled to earn miles or SC. You need to book them as ¨Any Seat Awards¨to get SC - but they cost heaps more points. Qantas I assume?

Assuming you were on Qantas.
Classic Awards do not earn points or SCs
Any Seat Awards (JASAs) do earn points and SCs

On Virgin.
No all points awards or cash and points awards earn any points or SCs.

I didn't think QF ever did NC headphones for domestic (apart from the 747s on PER duty)

Presumably, you booked them as a classic award which does not accrew either miles or status credits. Had you booked the award flights as Any Seat Awards (ASA) you would have recieved both miles and SCs.

On the headphones topic, AFAIK only QF international flights have the noise cancelling headphones for J - I don't get to fly J very often any more, so I could be wrong, but that's how it used to be anyway...

On Qantas, they can sometimes be had for the same as a Classic, which is why it's always good to evaluate all your options, before spending your points ;)

Using points ONLY you wont' earn any FF points.

You can book a Jetstar Any Seat Award, referred to on here as a JASA which is points+cash and that would earn Status Credits and points

I have received the NC headphones domestically, but that was about 12 months ago, so not sure about now.

A F/J/Y ASA can be booked with just points, much like a Classic award, but it's usually better to add a cash component.

So that´s what JASA stands for! ;)

FASA - F stands for the class (First) with ASA being Any Seat Award
JASA - J stands for the class (Business) with ASA being Any Seat Award
YASA - Y stands for the class (Economy) with ASA being Any Seat Award

They're referred to as Qantas & Jetstar Any Seat Awards, not just Jetstar, and I'm not entirely sure on earning potential of Jetstar fares booked under a YASA/JASA...

Most domestic flights have the on the ear type headphones in business, the same as the economy ones. Coast to coast flights (and trans tasman) normally have over the ear type headphones in business, but they aren't active noise cancelling. You might get noise cancelling head phones on a domestic flight when an international configured plane is used. Otherwise you need to fly on medium or long haul international flights to get noise cancelling headphones.
