British Airways cuts back inflight offerings

BA is nothing exciting when it comes to Inter-Europe flying and looks like this trend continues on with the medium haul legs to the likes of the East coast USA and Middle East.
 
BA is basically an LCC now.

Except they're not. I am at GLA about to fly to LCY and I'm sipping beers and eating sandwiches in the very pleasant GLA lounge. I got (as an emerald) priority checkin (ZERO QUEUE, try that on Ryanair), priority security, and I will get a drink and snack on board. Well, it's nothing like flying Ryanair which I experienced recently on this Europe trip (it was awful). I'm feeling pretty relaxed and I will continue to fly BA in Europe where I can. I have tried Easyjet/Ryanair.... they're awful.
 
Also no (guarateed) One World interlining on separate tickets, it wouldn't suprise me if BA weren't the prime mover in that change also.
 
Disappointing to see BA continue on its trajectory of becoming an airline offering LCC service at full service prices. BA catering is woeful enough as it is.
 
Whilst removing the Amuse Bouche in first is a tad disappointing, it wasn't very good anyway - on our last BA F flight Haneda to LHR is was a rolled up piece of "British Beef" secured with a toothpic!
 
Not good to see these types of enhancements.

In saying that I would still fly BA across the Atlantic on say DEN-LHR and intra-Europe.

On my intra-Europe leisure trips, BA keeps coming out as the best deal for me (using Avios if standard fares expensive) as I usually have baggage and am usually based around London
 
I travelled BA Y from LHR-LCA last week. Was friendly with the crew and they were *very* obliging with keeping the drinks topped up, even to the point of raiding the stash upfront when the economy trolley was emptied of our favourites. That way I barely noticed the woeful catering!

I agree can be both sometimes with a touch of bloody awesome mixed in but only very occasionally.! Their not Qantas that's for sure. Having flown their first product over the Atlantic. The Concorde lounge was interesting and I was fussed over. In flight average very average experience.

Our two experiences with BA last week did not endear them to us at all. PB line was a mile long and they started boarding the general line before it had cleared. J is just Y with a blocked seat (the exit row has more legroom) and the staff at the LHR F lounge kept trying to send us to the Galleries lounge despite 'first' appearing on our boarding passes in three places.
 
Mother in law flew SYD-SIN-LHR and was then supposed to go direct to Santorini all on BA last week. Last leg was cancelled, so they were put up overnight. All good so far.

However, they were rebooked on Iberia not BA, via Madrid - got to Madrid and onwards flight cancelled. BA staff not interested as it is now an Iberia problem. Another overnight. On next Iberia flight, they diverted to Crete due to landing gear issue. Another overnight. Finally in Santorini 2 days late, and BA trying to wash their hands of it. Think travel insurance will have to be used in this case. Seems BA is going downhill...

What an absolute PITA chain of events. BA confirming their "Bloody Awful" reputation!

Don't forget the EU Regulation 261. Note sure of applicability in your M-I-L's case though. Might as well use it while you can :)
