Anybody know how far ahead of flights (LIS - LHR) the BA counters in Lisbon open.

We're on a big trip that has had some open many hours before, and some only 2 hours before. Google hasn't helped. And the BA website is *$#*.

I know you can't always trust websites randomly found via Google, but Google has thrown-up this page about Lisbon airport checkin which says 3hrs for "proper international" and 2hrs to non-Schengen Europe. Theoretically 90min to Schengen-zone Europe.

I (possibly wrongly) thought the opening of check-in counters were an airport-specific rather than airline-specific thing - if so, the above is probably correct regardless of airline.

Also, a question having used the self-check-in with baggage-drop machines once internationally … does BA have those at Lisbon & can you drop your bags off there after online check-in over 3hrs before the flight?

We flew BA503 from LIS - LHR last November which departed at 6.40pm. We arrived at LIS airport about 2.5 hrs before departure and the bag drop counter was open then, so I think you can safely expect they will be open at least 3 hrs before.

BA do have about 5 flights a day on that route so it's possible their checkin counter is open virtually all day but my understanding is that BA doesn't usually allow you to bag drop more than 3 hrs ahead of departure even if the counter is open.

Thanks, guys.

Our only experience with BA and machine check-in was at Oslo, and I didn't see any automated bag drop machines. Maybe Lisbon will be different, but 3 hours will suit us fine.

Cheers!
