Hi All,

I need to travel from Brisbane to Manila in May. I was looking to fly either via Singapore on Singapore Airlines so I can obtain Velocity points and status credits, or Philippine Airlines so I can fly direct.

I understand flight PR222 is serviced by the new A321neo, but I also see that the route uses a Dash 8? I didn't know a Dash 8 could fly that far. 8 hours on a narrow body would / will be bad enough before swapping jets for propellers! Is this an error, or do they actually fly this plane?

Assume you are getting this from Flight radar.
Looks like an error to me, given the Dash8 was making other flights around the Phillipines when supposedly also flying to Sydney

A Q400 has a range of 1100nm.
It could easily do BNE-MNL with 2 or 3 stops.

Great Circle Mapper

Though PL doesn't own any Dash 8's. Their smallest aircraft is the A320.
PAL Express has 13 Q400s, but they need them for the domestic flights. They aren't going to send them on a 3 stop hop route to Australia.

Yes from Flight Radar. Have noticed it regularly on this journey over the last couple months.

Philippine Airlines don't actually have Dash 8's in their fleet, but their subsidiary, PAL Express, has 13 Q400's in their fleet. They could make it to Brisbane, though, with refuelling stops in Manado, Darwin and Mt. Isa.:):p
