Hi all,

I have taken advantage of the really cheap VA promo fees at the moment, and booked a trip to LA. There was no option direct from Brisbane, so I selected to go via Sydney. Of the options presented, I chose this one:

Dept Bris 5pm, Arr Syd 6:30pm (operated by Virgin Blue)
Dept Syd 8pm, Arr LA 4:30pm (operated by V Australia)

I have now been reading all this stuff about checking in 3 hours early, and I am a little worried! Surely they mean check in 3 hours early for the international flight-- i.e. the one leaving Sydney. But that won't be possible for me since I am arriving 1.5 hours before it departs.

Yet this was a option V Australia had to choose from in the booking part of their website, so it must work somehow? Can they do the whole customs process at Brisbane, and just 'pass you through' somehow in Sydney?

If anyone knows how this works, can you let me know? I have never flown intl before and I am a bit worried about this! I doesn't help when you are travelling alone too!

Thanks all :)

Might be worth a call to V to verify if it is possible to check-in through from BNE to LAX, would imagine it is possible after all why else would they offer it.

If they sold it as a through ticket, then I would posit that they will be able ti check the luggage through to the International flight and that you will not have to worry about checking in at Sydney; will just have to make your way across to T1 for the flight

That flight has a Vaustralia codeshare-VA262 so you are in fact checking in when you check in in BNE

Its going to be one long flight but enjoy your first international trip velour, maybe after your trip you can come back here and write a little Trip Report ;)
