Hi all, I have enjoyed reading many on the articles in this forum and finally have a question and seek some advice from those far more experienced.
I am a Qantas Club FF Member with sufficient points accumulated for 4 return flights to Europe , in particular to Athens. All Qantas flights go via London, adding about 10 more hours to an already long flight.I also have over 1.3m Amex points accumulated.
I seek your advice on how to best use my points to go from Brisbane to Athens return using my points . I am planning to take my family of 4 next Aug/Sep 07.
Thanks in advance.

The most important thing I can recommend is that you take whatever routing is available to you and an FF award. Needing 4 seats on the same flights will limit your options. So routing via London will provide access to the most number of flights.

The only OneWorld Operated flight to/from ATH are by BA from LHR and IB from BCN and MAD. Getting to BCN or MAD from Australia means routing via two intermediate points such as SIN/FRA (with QF) or HKG/CDG (with CX).

With your Amex points you will have enough to tarvel in business class if you can find the availability. But finding 4 business class award seats on the same flights will not be easy.

You will have more options next year when Malev, Royal Jordanian and Japan Airlines join One World. IIRC, RJ can get you SIN-AMM-ATH with no backtracking. I think they will join in April 2007, not sure when they will open award bookings. oneworld - Home

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.
