My sister wishes to fly Brisbane to Paris to see her daughter and on the return go to Montgomery (Alabama) where her husband will visit the Air base and finally come back to Brisbane. Dates - Depart Bris 22 Sept. Depart Paris 24 Oct and depart Montgomery 27 Oct and be back in Brisbane by the 29th Oct.

I have just subscribed to Expert Flyer but I am not knowledgeable enough to come up with a reasonable trip. Is it possible to do this by RTW? She has Emirates points and wondered if these could be used to upgrade any of the flights.

Any help is much appreciated. ITMT, I will keep experimenting with EF.

Thanks

To start with, have a look at www.oneworld.com and use the itinery planner. There are also price lists. Star alliance have a similar too I believe.

Once you've worked out routing/cost using an RTW fare, you can compare to other options of combos or returns / one way tickets.

If wanting to stay with EK, the BNE-(DXB)-CDG segment will be fine, but getting to Montgomery will be harder.

Perhaps an option is buying BNE-DXB-CDG-DXB-BNE on EK, then buying a separate fare CDG-USA-CDG as it may well work out cheaper, but is of course the "long" way home from Alabama - Brisbane.

Looks like Montgomery Airport is serviced by all three Alliances:

American Eagle - Oneworld (AA)
Delta Connection - SkyTeam (DL)
US Airways - Star Alliance (US)

Another exercise would be to find out how much these tickets are individually:

a) BNE/LAX/BNE
b) LAX/CDG/LAX
c) LAX/MGM/LAX via www.delta.com probably via ATL each way or
via www.usair.com probably via CLT each way. Both of these airlines should give you a same day "through fare" permitting a transit stop.

As options a, b & c above a separate tickets you don't have to stick to the one alliance eg OneWorld, Star Alliance etc.

Cheers

Oz
