Heading to Japan in September for some road bike touring.
We usually fly Qantas as I have Silver and the extra baggage allowance helps out with carting two (22kg) bike boxes.
There are direct Jetstar flights, but they will have to have extra luggage added, so the cost starts to add up.

I was checking out China Southern and I can get return business class fares for $3050 each.

Any reason not to splurge the few extra $k on those? It is a great price compared to any other business or prem econ option.
transit times in Guangzhou are arounf 2 hours, so no real issue with that either.

I read that ocassionally people get stung with extra fees for bike boxes, which I have never had a problem with on Qantas.
