I've not gone specifically looking for same, but I hadn't noticed any reference to a QF Flounge in Brisvegas in the various forums.

So I was pleasantly surprised to be directed into a nice little First lounge when departing from BNE recently. Small, but only a couple of us in there and good for some emailing and a quiet G&T. Lunch menu was just being taken away when I arrived, so I didn't get to check it out.

They could lose the canned music, though.

I went looking for an EK lounge and only discovered it, right at the end of the pier, when it was almost time to board. Next time.

I recall it being referred to as the Platinum or Emerald lounge last time I was there (QF8 to SYD, and I was in the QP/J Lounge before the Flounge, as the latter didn't open until 5 or 5:30am).

A bit like the dom J Lounge, generally, even before QF15 it's a little less crowded than the QP Lounge.
I have seen Dr John Tickell from one of the "I'm a celebrity voice x factor loser get me out of here" weight loss shows in there ignoring boarding calls for QF15. ;)
Big tip: staff will get you barista coffees from the J Lounge when the barista's in there. Oh, and self-serve Taittinger.

Is the EK lounge actually available to use if flying out on QF?

For QFF gold and platinum flying on an QF yes they get access to the EK. Of course it depends on the lounge being open at the time. Passengers flying on QF don't get access to the EK lounge by class of travel unless they are on a QF codeshare on EK. Also Qantas club members don't get access to the EK lounge.

I'm flying BNE-SIN in J next month so I called EK at Brisbane airport to ask about this and I was told that I could use the lounge as a J passenger. However my flight leaves after the lounge closes.

Did they quote the opening hours?

I will find this our Thursday, checking early to check out the EK lounge. Not often I depart BNE Int, for some reason ;).

It's sheer luxury compared to that terrible BNE QF lounge
