It might be just me, but in the past few months, every time I fly into BNE on a Friday night (every couple of weeks), arriving between 6:30 and 8:00pm, the flight consistently has a delayed arrival of between 30 and 45 minutes into BNE.

I know they have capacity issues but this has been going on for months now, as recently as last weekend. When will BAC and Air Services Australia get this sorted?

Who else is affected by this? It can't be just me!

The parallel runway is expected to be completed by late 2020. Only seven years :).

Haha yeah that's a long time to put up with this cough... Maybe I can get the extended family to move from BNE before then? ;)

And remember they still can't agree who will pay for it...

They're getting there. VA signed on yesterday to "pre-fund" the runway build, in return for a bit of work on VA section of the terminal - extra A330 gates, extra ATR gates, etc.

QF is left as the stick in the mud, although I do think their position is understandable.

Yes, QF is being very reasonable, as it's worth remembering that the pax will ultimately pay for a runway while in a holding pattern before being allowed to land in 2020... ;)

Yep. Agree with Qantas. Not sure Virgin did the right thing... But I'm sure there is a fast track sweetener in there somewhere with the terminal work.

BTW the leahy cartoon yesterday was http://www.leahy.com.au/leahy/view_comic.cfm?comic_id=2208

Well, VA stated the agreement includes "Ongoing runway access for the next 10 years." Maybe VA flights will get express passes from BAC in the meantime, whilst QF flights will have to join the regular queue? :p

At a guess, 2020 when the 2nd runway is installed and operational. Also looking at the schedule, 2020 is the fastest it will be built as they need to wait the 4 years to pre-load the runway between now and 2018

BNE experiences conjestion daily between 4pm-8pm, with it quite common for flights to be put in a holding pattern for 30 minutes on average awaiting for a free slot to land.

It seems it is only going to get worse, before better. And will only get better with the 2nd runway which will be finished in 2020, or they negotiate some airlines to not fly some schedules during this peak period.

I must say, leaving work near the Brisbane airport daily, seeing all these circles in the sky as a result of flights being put into a holding pattern is quite impressive to see.

yea, i used to fly from bne to tsv, and after the first couple of times, i started turning up to the airport later than the departure time, and never missed a flight.
