I'm sitting down to museli, fruit, yog in a glass and about to have sausages, eggs and baked beans. Does anyone know when the changes happened? It's been 2 weeks since in a J lounge  so this is new ( and good!)

And shock surprise, ham and cheese crossiants (however it's spelt!), I'm impressed :)

I've seen the yoghurt since almost a month ago, maybe just under. Haven't seen the baken beans, sausages and eggs though.

Eating baked beans before a flight probably isn't a good idea... :D

Is this the MEL J lounge?

No sign of real hot food in SYD this morning

A more precise question for munitalP is:
Which lounge at which domestic airport?

Maybe, (and l stress maybe) QF are being proactive and tweaking little things before DJ launches new products, (ie, Lounge improvements, enhanced frequent flyer program, new J Class) ???

Hot food in the J Lounge?

O  M  G.................. I'd thought I'd never see it...

Of course, this now merely brings them up to par with NZ Koru Clubs

Or back up to what the Qantas club used to be like

Cannot say QP was ever like that in my experience with hot food, prior 2001 Golden Wing catering left QP for dead, which was where I was the more frequent visitor I must admit.

I'm not talking about the quality of the catering. Just noting that I used to get hot food, including beans, sausages and eggs in the plan old, boring old qantas club. As a paid member since about 1997 or so that gives some time frame.

Since this thread is about a QANTAS lounge, then maybe this thread more properly belongs in either the QFF section of AFF, or in the Travel Insider Tips/Airport Lounges section.

Its not about the Qantas Frequent Flyer program, so does not belong in the QFF forum. But it is about a lounge so the Airport Lounges Forum is certainly an appropriate home for this thread.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I was not talking about the quality either, I cannot remember hot food in the QP including beans sausages or eggs whatever prior to the introduction of the enhancements 5 or so years ago, and I was a paid member from Oct 97, maybe thats the problem, it was too long ago for my memory.

Well I might be making up the beans, but I've definitely had little sausages in the BNE QP during the 1990s.
Unless my memory has failed as well

Edit: As an infrequent flyer back then I certainly remember the shock of my first no hot food moment in the QP. That shock is now expressed as general internal disgust at the party pies.

Since this has been moved to a generic lounge thread, I have edited the thread title to reflect that it relates to Qantas.

Melbourne Dom J lounge

I flew J last week from MEL and it was there then. a week and half before that it wasn't there, so i would say it has only been happening for 2 weeks or less.

Definitely hot food there 2 days ago and it seems to be in addition to the old pastrami, cheese and other nibbles. Even the quality of the biscuits on offer seems to have moved up a peg.

However I didn't sight anything similar in the SYD Dom J lounge a week earlier, although that was on a Saturday so that may have made a difference.

This menu was here on Sat morning also (Mel Dom J lounge). I asked the desk and they informed it had been around for the last 2 weeks with no mention as to why. Maybe I might actually visit the club when on morning flights now.

There was hot food in the SYD J Dom Lounge on the 28th of May (When l started my repositioning for a NAN J Run). Because l don't frequent the J Lounge often, l just thought that it was the norm. They only had chicken cacciatore and rice in a chafing dish plus and some meat pies and other canapes (arancini, vegetarian spring rolls etc etc). I didn't even bother with the chicken cacciatore as it really looked like chicken pieces in gravy, not a tomato base, with olives and capsicum (how it is meant to be).

PER Dom QP also has hot food as there is no J Lounge.
