Hi all,
Made a reward booking recently from Boston - Melbourne in J with Virgin America and virgin Australia. I have quite a wait in LAX so i just wanted to double check something with those who may have taken a similar flight.
I assume I can check my bags through to melbourne from Boston and simply use the new F lounge in TBIT with my VA platinum card and chill out before my flight.

Cheers,
EuroFlyer

Hi EuroFlyer,
If your ticket is all under one booking then yes it should go all the way through to Melbourne from Boston and yep you will be able to chill in the new F lounge at the TBIT! Much better than the ****ty VX Loft!

I have a similar booking SYD-ORD return in J with VA and F with VX and cant wait to see the new lounge in the TBIT. Have a good trip!

Super thanks for that jordanva, it is all under one booking so i am looking forward to as you say VX F and the F lounge, also not flown J in VA long haul before (except to Perth) so that should be fun, flying to Boston with QF J via JFK in new york so will be interesting to compare both J products. thanks for the reply.

Well I think you are in for a very nice trip! I can't actually say a bad word about any of my experiences flying VA or VX and I do SYD-ORD about 6x a year...VA J product is very good, comfy seat / bed for a sleep. Great cabin crew who are very friendly and always up for a chat and if traveling with friends / family the bar is a great little addition for a chill and a drink onboard. Nothing like the EK one but still a nice touch and well you can say you sat at a bar at 39,000 ft!
I switched over to VA 3 years ago from QF simply because they were cheaper to LAX for a 19 year old! A year later I experienced my first J flight LAX-SYD with work mates and I was like a kid in a candy store..! Literally a kid! I remember the crew asking if I had flown J before and I had my work mates just watching me and laughing their heads off at how happy I was, saying 'are you sure all this space is for me..?'
Only bad thing from that flight....it made me never want to fly Y again! Bad habit for a 22 year old now!
Enjoy your first VA J flight. Sure you will become converted like me!

You will not have access to the F TBIT lounge on the MEL BOS leg however you will have access on the BOS MEL leg ..... on the way over you will only the loft in T3

The TBIT lounge is not a arrivals lounge ( ie from your MEL LAX)

You'll enjoy the J lounge at tbit more. You'll be able to easily move between the two. The only value of the F lounge is its aquiet sanctuary. The j lounge is spectacular.

I was at the new *A TBIT lounges last week and I have to agree that the J lounge really is a great international business lounge. There is a decent selection of food and beverages, decent indoor and outdoor seating areas and great showers. The let-down is the First lounge which is very small with no view... but it is at least a quiet sanctuary to escape the main lounge. The menu in the first lounge also has a little more food on it but they were happy to let us wander back out into the J lounge with the F menu and order there - mainly cause the seating is better in the J section.
