Ok guru's.

Any good suggestions for hotels in BOS, MIA, SFO (late june if season is a factor). Prefer not to difficult to get from the airport's.

NYC and DFW i think i have a good handle on, for NYC i welsome any ideas but DFW was discussed recently with many good ideas.

Also Muscat ?

Should i try just bidding on priceline ? i have never used priceline before, anything i should be aware of except don't bid to high ?

If you're not loyal to any specific chain of hotels, my pick for SFO is the Hotel Palomar. It's in the city, but that's plenty easy to get to on the BART.

For the US, Travelzoo is worth watching for specials and its updated very frequently.

Do you have membership and status of any hotel loyalty scheme?

My current favorite in SF is the new InterContinental which is a BART ride and 2 blocks walk, just back of Market. Travelzoo recently had it at $119.00 per night. What is your price range?

Yes, sure i am Intercontinental Royal Ambasador so i get very good perks, at 120 a night i would be booking it in a heartbeat.
Starwood also good (Starwood gold). But otherwise not really loyal.

Good site, i will keep an eye out there as well, IC in SFO is currently on sale but not the one you were refering to only the Mark Hpkins at the moment that i can see, still $120 a night is a good rate really for any IC's considering i get free mini-bar and early check in & late checkout.

Price range is as little as possible provided the hotels are decent and location is good, but willing to pay a bit for quality.

With the dollar hovering around 75c Priceline is your best bet if you don't have hotel loyalty via their programs. Even then its still arguable.

Priceline will allow you to select Airport hotels as a zone for almost all major US cities if you wan't to be that close! I suggest you closely read and understand the FAQs and content at betterbidding.com and bidding4travel.com. Rebidding strategies are a a great tool to help you save hundeds, however not so great if you stuff it up and get the wrong zone!

Many IC RA's don't like Mark Hopkins but I do. It is old with a lot of charm and history. It won't be around forever as its rumoured to be turned into apartments though the GFC may have slowed down that plan. $120 is a steal though you probably would not get club access for that amount at MH. My $119.00 travelzoo rate has got me that at the SF IC.

Problem, given your criteria, is that you need a taxi to get to MH if you have luggage, unless you are an iron man contender. However a Muni passport covers cable cars so getting around from MH once you are there is a breeze. A three day pass for $18.00 is great value.

I have stayed at the Miami IC several times (for conferences) and find it to be a very nice hotel with great views over the harbour. Its a short walk to some nice restaurants, but a taxi ride to the night life at South Beach.

If you are looking for something close to SFO I can recomend the Clarion at Millbrae. 5 mins by shuttle and an eay walk to BART and the Millbrae shops

I don't know the Palomar but I can recommend the Kimpton Hotel group, which it is a member of. I've stayed at a few of their hotels in North America and they are universally very friendly places.

The Palomar's location looks pretty good.
