I booked a seat on an international jetstar flight using points.

Using the Jetstar booking number, I can logon to Manage Bookings under the Jetstar website, within which I can do seat selection.

From using the website, seat selection even for exit row seats are showing as costing $0 extra. But I am unable to save the changes (the selected seats).

Therefore I was wondering if this seat selection is actually real? Or am I doing something wrong?

Setting aside how awful the jetstar web site is I can't speak for international bookings but I do have a current domestic QF/jetstar award booking to Hamilton island which I have been able to do an advanced seat selection for row 1 at no cost. My guess is the $0 seat selection cost is embedded in the "cost" of the QF ticket on jetstar metal. Have you tried selecting as a first pass a non exit row seat to see if that sticks before trying to change it to an exit row?
