Booking upgrade - points and SC

If I make an economy booking and want to upgrade to business with points, I will earn say SYD PER 4000 points and 80 status points for the booking.

Now if I upgrade to business with points - will I receive the extra points and status credits for travelling Business.?? (6000 / 160 SC) or just get the original points and SC?

can't find that information on the Q site, its most likely there but burried.

You will earn points and SC for the original class you booked in, not at business rates.

Yep, the answer is a big fat no.

I'd be close to LTG if that were the case

It's buried in Frequent Flyer - About the Program - Terms & Conditions 16.1.6

(d) Points and Status Credits will be earned only for the class of service that has been purchased, rather than the upgraded class of travel

It is a fairly regular occurence - call and it shall be sorted for you.

It happened to me for my MEL-LHR flight on Sat. First time that's happened to me.
Fixed up after two phone calls.
(First agents manual adjustment was incorrect).

Happened to me with Saturday's BNE- PER return flights. All sorted after an email. Pity Qantas still can't get their act together with the voucher bonus points from December!

I could be wrong but I think this may have arisen as an IT fix for the opposite problem ie. Points/ SC being earned at the upgraded class.
I doubt we would see too many people posting about that little problem on a public forum

The Frequent Flyer Service Centre have fixed it. Hooray. This was actually for MrsDeKa who is working towards QFF Gold. Every SC counts.
I need to convince her "why fly direct when you can connect"

My points and SC posted as zero for my return (upgrade) sectors from LHR. Called up and had them sorted promptly. The agent was very efficient and advised that there is a known issue with upgrades posting and they were having to be manually credited until it's fixed.
