Hi,

I am trying to book BLR - CNS on SQ and CNS - BNE on VA the next day as the SQ flight lands in CNS at 17:25 and there is no flight that leaves after that time.

Will I have to take my bags, store in a locker and recheck in the next day at VA counter??

On a side note : SQ agents could not book this over the phone, is it not possible to combine them into a single itineary??

Looks like someone booked CNS - BNE last minute and this is no longer available.

As CNS is your port of entry to AU you need to clear immigration, customs & bio security at CNS with all you carry-on & checked bags. Unlikely you will be able to check in for a VA flight the next day.

Meaning I cant book this itineary?? SQ phone reps are having a hard time booking this as is.

As it involves a booking on SQ and on a non-star alliance partner, the points cost will be the same if they can get it onto one ticket, as it would be if it were on two separate tickets.

And also because it involves overnight connection, probably the only value with doing it on one reservation Is if you miss your connection to the SIN-CNS flight and have to travel the next day, your flight to BNE might be protected.

I just booked seperate tickets. I found a later flight on a different day for CNS - BNE , I paid cashas its better than doing overnight as that was the only option I have otherwise.

I am thinking 4 hours should be sufficient time to clear immigration and recheck in, I have plat status at VA if that matters

I’m on the same flight SIN-CNS and we have a two hour connection SQ->VA. This is ticketed on the one ticket, so we are protected, but it must meet minimum connecting times. 4 hours should in theory be fine!

Thank u, the problem is the days we have a same day later flight doesnt not have award availability.

If worse comes to worse and I miss the flight, I will just fly the next day.

I just wanted to note that this went fine. I booked CNS - BNE separately paying cash. I was the first one off the plane and was able to clear immigration very easily.

Kscf’s post reminded me to report on our experience… the first of which was that SQ could not, in SIN, check us in for the VA connecting flight, all same ticket.

The checkin agent said there was no alliance, and no interline agreement. We left it there and asked again in the lounge. The lounge called check-in supervisors who agreed it was unusual but said the system simply wouldn’t authorise it… the flight was ‘closed’. We were mostly concerned about the VA connecting flight having been cancelled, but they confirmed it was ok and we were indeed on it.

Arrival in CNS was streamlined… ABF and quarantine officers were in the very beginning of the arrivals hall, before the carousel, to process passenger arrival cards and ask questions. This meant most people were able to exit immediately after collecting their bags and handing their cards to the officer on duty by the exit door.

It’s a bit of a hike at CNS for the international to domestic. Checkin was easy. The SQ flight from CNS is fairly well padded… it only took 6 hours, so there was plenty of time to make the connection. Most of the walk is under cover, but there are some sections without, so if it was raining you’d get wet.

No lounge for VA pax.

Our connecting VA flight was packed! The interior looked familiar to the flight we’d just come off and indeed it turned out it was an ex Silk Air plane now leased to VA. No cabin divider! (these are being refurbished though).

Yellow seats in Economy?

Yellow seats in Economy?
Not quite as extreme! They had recovered the seats to the Vermin grey. But no cabin divider installed, and the seats were newer than the current mainline VA offering… similar to ones you now find in domestic AA first.

According to the FA they will be refurbishing these aircraft to change the seats to the ‘standard’ VA offering, and will install cabin dividers.

Slightly different question that the OP, but I also had an issue with getting VA and SQ flights on the same ticket. Looking at booking a paid return trip to the Maldives next year and was keen to try the first suites out of Sydney on Singapore Airlines. As we are up in Townsville in QLD I anticipated having to fly TSV-BNE-SYD-SIN-MLE and I counted on booking the domestic legs with Virgin in order to get everything on the same booking.

The issue I have come across (tried multiple online booking systems and AMEX travel over the phone) is that it doesn’t look like I can get the VA and SQ flights on the same ticket. On the outbound journey I was trying for VA362 (BNE-TSV), VA932 (BNE-SYD),SQ222 (SYD-SIN) all on the same day (02/04/23) however it seems like the system wants to push me towards a Brisbane international departure (with no first class).

My concern with booking separate domestic and international tickets was the risk of a cancelled or late departure putting very expensive flights at risk, and I understand that I could overnight in Sydney to mitigate this somewhat, or abandon the suites for a still great business class seat out of BNE, but thought I would at least pose the question and see if I was missing something obvious or there was another workaround..

Haven’t tried calling Singapore Airlines yet but that was my next course of action.
