So thinking about booking a Business class

Qantas flight to UK with the sale that came today. On the return journey, the sale price is only available on Emirates Plane via Dubai.
Got me thinking..... is there any down side to flying home with Emirates?
Do we still get the same SC?
Is lounge access any different ( husband Plantinum )
I even pondered a stopover in
Dubai if that’s the way we go.
I’ve never been on Emirates.
Should we ??

Any suggestions very welcome

Is it on the A380 or B777? The A380 is quite good (comparable to Qantas), but the B777 is far inferior.

If the flight numbers begin with a QF rather than a EK, then you will get the same SCs.

It was A380.
Oh that’s exciting.
So, I’ll try to book it and a few days in Dubai on the way home.
..... now to look at hotels. Haha.... this takes hours doesn’t it !!

Thanks

Again, if its a Qantas flight number, you will get Qantas SCs. If its an EK flight number ZERO SCs. Make sure.

Qantas Plat will get EK FLounge access either airline flown. Its a great experience.

Plenty of threads and Trip Reports here re visiting Dubai. You could stay downtown for the shopping, but I'd recommend staying near Dubai Mall and the Burj Khalifa

Go for it, I personally love the Emirates A380.
Make sure you make use of the chauffeur service.
Dubai is such a great place to visit but depending on the time of the year the heat can be stifling

Just remember no PJs on Emirates J. I concur the 777 are dire but that's all that flies out of Adelaide.
Atleast the newer ones from ADL have a lie flat bed now!
Still a poor seating configuration though IMO and we definitely avoid them

If +1 is WP already, the SCs may not matter if it's an EK-coded flight.

QF WP will get you FLounge access. The best one is in Terminal A, so if you have plenty of time head for that. Don't expect bacon at breakfast... :p.

My suggestion if you stop over is to make sure to dine outdoors at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel at sunset, watching the sun go down on the Burj al Arab and the light show on it that follows. JB Hotel is very costly, so if you are not into that sort of thing, I suggest getting a moderate-price hotel near the airport (HI Express is perfectly good IMO) and take a taxi to and from the JB.

Personally, I can't see much point in going to the top of the Burj Khalifa when you get the same sort of view dropping into and hauling out of DXB in a window seat so I'd give that a miss in favour of spending the money on the dining at the JB. Food is reasonably priced but wine is expensive.

Even though the Concourse A lounge is probably better overall I don’t mind the Concourse B lounge either. Mrs Jase actually likes the Concourse B J lounge the best for the Champagne Bar :p
Having dropped back to SG now I’m guessing any future travel via DXB I’ll have to make do with the J lounges

Just my very short two cents worth:

Unless things have changed much in the past year (I stopped flying), then the basic differences between QF and Emirates in business are the following:

(1) QF business is heaps better in the hard product - ie the seat. The emirates is all about bling, but is much more compact.

(2) staff-wise, Emirates usually has young staff from 66 different nations on every flight, and in my personal opinion are most likely to be good to great. Qantas staff in business will be either woeful or fantastic. Russian roulette at its worst.

(3) If on an A380, the huge advantage I see with Emirates is the bar area at the back of the top floor. You don't need to be an over-indulger in alcohol to appreciate this - it is just nice to have an area other than your seat to enjoy a few hours. Really changes long-haul flights.

(4) If your husband is Platinum with QF, then you get access to the great lounges at Dubai - and in my opinion there is nothing quite like it on the planet. The main First "lounge" is the size of many airports. Various restaurants / bars / etc. Really really good.

I have never stayed in Dubai - only ever as a transit pax. So others can guide you there. But if you have never experienced long-haul on Emirates (in premium cabins and with status), I really encourage you to do so :)

Thank you everyone for your fantastic information.
So, now, thats sounds so good, do I book Emirates both ways or still get to London on Qantas via Singapore.....arrr decisions ....
also, Any suggestions as to seat recommendations on Emirates A380.
I looked at the seat map, and would rather window than aisle so is it silly for hubby and I to both have windows even if a few rows apart. We don't need to be seated together the whole time.
We usually go for row 12 on Qantas.

Really appreciate all your help, as I don't want to make the wrong decision.

Another question as I have been looking at these flights.....

If I book thru qantas website but am actually flying on an Emirates plane ( with a QF flight number ) Do we still check in at qantas first class checkin in Melbourne or do we need to go to Emirates counter ?
