Planning to book a QF or JQ reward flight from Sydney to Japan late October 2026.

Will there be a chance QF or JQ change the airport from Sydney Kingsford to Western Sydney?

Will there be a chance QF or JQ change the airport from Sydney Kingsford to Western Sydney?

At this stage we know almost nothing about specific routes planned for WSI.

I'd say it's very unlikely QF would move Tokyo flights to WSI. Perhaps a slightly better chance of JQ, but I wouldn't bet the house on it. Others may disagree.

Safest bet at this stage is to assume you'll be flying ex-SYD.

Not a chance for QF, and probably no chance for JQ either.

It will take time for the airport to ramp up, I think it will be mostly domestic with a few token international routes, most likely to NZ for Australian carriers. International routes further would only be from airlines based in those countries.

Japan routes are low frequency and I can’t see any airline giving up SYD slots for them.
