I'm doing something wrong - but I'm an amateur, so be gentle! Using Expedia or the Emirates websites I'm looking for business class flights in May from Brisbane to Rome, then in June back from London to Brisbane.

I want to travel Emirates, but I want flat-beds, so I'm thinking I have to go via Sydney (or Melbourne).

If I search for SYD-FCO and LHR-SYD I get reasonable prices (starting around $6000+).

However, as soon as I make it BNE-SYD-FCO and LHR-SYD-BNE, I get quotes over $20,000 each. Helluva expensive sectors between Brisbane & Sydney?

Could somebody please point me in the right direction? Wrong websites, wrong way of searching, too hard for an amateur?

Thanks!

they only allow two free stopovers so you need to plan the flights so short connecting on all but two...

Either call a reputable travel agent or ring Emirates direct.

There are also some booking sites that have a multi-city booking tool that allows stopovers so you could give that a go. Check out www.jetabroad.com.au but don't pay for anything until you've checked the fare with the airline.

I have just had a little play with a dummy booking, and am suspecting that because there is a Qantas leg involved, it may explain the hike in prices. The flight from BNE is on Emirates metal all the way. Things may settle down following the final approval with the Emirates/Qantas tie-up (hopefully).

I am doing a similar flight but trying to book on Qantas, and am getting absurd pricing as well (for a PER-IST FRA-DXB-PER) or for any other city than FRA as well.

Thanks for the replies. Glad it's not just my stupidity.

Looks like I might have to wait until the Qantas/Emirates marriage is consummated - wonder when that will be?

Cheers
