I found to my cost (in points) that when you book a FF from Hobart to Brisbane (and reverse) on the Qantas website that you must avoid going through Melbourne. Booking a direct flight (only Jetstar) or transferring in Sydney is zone 2 (12,000 points). If you book the flight transferring in Melbourne you will be slugged 18,000 points because apparently the extra distance takes you into zone 3.
Always use the "multi city" option which will give you all the Jetstar options which you dont get by using "Return" or "One Way".

This reminds me of the story of my mother's Aunt (or my Great-Aunt if you will), who somehow, @ nealry 100/not out, amassed enough points for a once in a lifetime "business class trip" to Hobart. Remembering that for her, anywhere south of Coolangatta is equivalent to crossing an international border! Anyway, she ended up J to Sydney, connecting Jetstar to Hobart. Bless her, she had no idea what Jetstar was, just that she asked the Qantas website for business class from Brissy to Hobart and it suggested Jetstar and took the value in business class points! Doesn't seem like a fair go really!
