Booking EK flights with QF points

Hi,
Can anyone give me some pointers as to how to book EK flights using QF points?

I am looking to bring a relative out to Melbourne from the UK in March 2015, she prefers to fly from BHX so I am looking at EK38 / EK404 outbound and EK405 / EK39 return.

Is there a way. I only have c. 130,000 QF pts, I think this would only be enough for 1-way is that correct?

I think at least the EK404 / EK405 might be codeshare with Qantas?

My relative also has a number of Skywards miles, is it possible to somehow transfer them to my QF, or my QF to her Skywards to perhaps book a return?

Any help to get me started would be greatly appreciated.

It is not possible to transfer Skywards miles to a Qantas frequent flyer account.

Check the Qantas website and book awards section to find the flights you are interested in to get started.

130,000 should be enough to fly in J one way I believe.

There's not a lot on offer for this award in J. One possibility (found via a multi-city search) is EK38 on March 10 followed by QF10 on March 12. The transit is less than 24h so should qualify for Dubai Connect and can be booked for 128000pts and 576 pounds. I would book as early as you can. There are other choices via PER on March 3,17,18 and 31 and one other flight BHX-DXB-MEL on March 31.

Used QFF points for EK flight HKG/DXB/VIE with no connecting flight for 16 hours was denied Dubai connect free accom.

Looks like a case of keep your points for an upgrade as a fully paid return for the itinerary without one super-long stopovers is just $1,474.23.

Then seek to use points solely for upgrades to J.

You do then have two homeward stopover but I like the length of time in Singapore as I think their terminal is a good place to spend some time (some great restaurants) and break the flight.

The GBP costs mentioned add up to well over $1,100 AUD so for $375 more you get what may be better flights and save 130,000 points

Not according to T&Cs:

16.1.3 Flight Upgrade Awards may be requested only on eligible paid and confirmed tickets on a service operated by Qantas, with a Qantas (QF) flight number on the ticket, in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.
