Booking Delta through Virgin Atlantic?

I've been able to find 2 award seats in business from LAX - BNE with Delta, but it's not letting me book them on Virgin Atlantic, even though I have the points. Any idea how I can do this before they disappear? I'm guessing they are not releasing them to Virgin Atlantic even though they are partners?
