How easy is it to book CX flights with QF points?

Trying to book reward flight between KUL-HKG for sometime next year, the QF website states that HKG is not a valid destination from KUL even though CX (a QFF (1W) partner flies there. Is it the same old case of having to call up the QFF centre to book this, so the 18000 (?) points gets slugged with a phone assisted booking fee?

Can anyone confirm that it is indeed 18000 (+ taxes) you would need to book between KUL and HKG using a partner classic award?

*Yes it is an economy flight I am after.

Interesting. I cannot even see KUL as a destination when trying to book a classic award using the QF award bookng engine.

Anyway KUL-HKG would be classed as a Partner classic award and would require 20,000 QFF points + taxes. I am not sure if it is possible to get the award assistance fee waived as it is not possible to book online.

If you have Amex MR points it may well be easier, and cheaper, to get a one-way award redemption using SQ or CX.
