Booking akl-syd-jfk

3 of my family are going May and return June next year. Y cash fares with QF.
TA tells me probably sale fares available early January if they can wait but then run risk of not getting exact dates they want.
Anyone see a problem waiting till January to book?

If you can't get the seats at a price you're happy with now then you might as well wait for a good sale to come around. Though I would be constantly on the lookout - one might come before January!

May and June are not peak travel periods, so I wouldn't be too concerned about all the cheap flights selling out 6 months ahead of time, in this case.

Also, FYI... SYD-JFK is currently going for under AUD1400 return. Not sure what price you had in mind but if you're originating in Australia that's pretty good.

(Perhaps not so good once you factor in the AKL-SYD flights on top of that if based in NZ, but YMMV.)

Got my answer today when I got a Qantas email offering a 2 day sale AKL to USA. Kids snapped up AKL-JFK return only NZD1399. Thanks Qantas!
