Booking AF MRU - CDG using QFF

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone has any idea on how to search for AF award availability from MRU - CDG to book a Qantas rewards ticket?

In the other direction CDG - MRU has some OK availability on AF that you can search for: in the next year there are 94 days with Y and 18 days with J availability (I'm using seats.aero to search QFF).

There's nothing in MRU - CDG in any class, and I suspect this is because MRU behaves like DOH in the QFF search engine i.e. you are unable to search for a reward flight originating from this airport (I think remember reading once it was a local currency issue?). Now with DOH you can usually still search for availability by doing the trick wherein you select a third airport and use DOH as a stopover to force the search engine to check if there is a reward seat available from DOH. However, with MRU there is only ONE OW flight to MRU and that's via LGW, so that trick won't work here.

I believe that there is probably award availability out there because it certainly exists in the other direction, but I just can't think of any way to access it.

Has anyone successfully booked an MRU - CDG AF ticket on QFF before, or can think of a workaround that would allow me to search for them. TIA.

Use the multi city search tool with a MEL - SYD sector as flight 1 and MRU - CDG as Flight 2. MEL - SYD sector doesn't need to relate to Flight 2 in any way just as long as it predates Flight 2.
Won't be able to book this way - unless you actually want the domestic sector - but can check availability

Would be interested to know whether this technique produces any good results
