Hi Everyone,

I'm new, so hope this question is in the correct place.....
I want to book an AA flight, and was told to use the USA site. However, with the Australian dollar so poor at the moment, is this the case or would I be better to book through the AA Australian site?
Thanks

Pippi

Most likely the AU site will just be the us prices but changed to AUD, and probably charging you for the convenience

In fact the aussie site can sometimes be worse than the US site by not showing all the available fares. Sometimes the AU site only shows higher fares.

Always pays to check googleflights. If the price matches in AUD, you can book on the Aussie site, in AUD, to save any conversion fees charged by your bank.

Also, it seems like the AA AU site sends bookings via Amadeus, while the US site (and AA itself) uses Sabre to book.
Transferring bookings between different GDSs can sometimes cause issues, as well as creating extra PNRs.

Generally the US site is cheaper due to the "Australia Tax", but I explore my options.

Note that a competent TA can save taxes on AA bookings for domestic USA flights by booking in conjunction with an international journey (which can be a separate ticket/booking).
