Hi all. I know that booking 2x Emirates first seats via Qantas classic rewards is difficult. Does anyone have any hints/tips/work arounds? I was wondering if 2 people separately booked a first class seat each at the same time if this would be a way around it?? Any thoughts?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

No, if there is only 1 available then only 1 will ticket.

Only strategy I could really suggest is book 1 in First and 1 in Business and then keep and eye to see if they release 1 more First seat closer to departure. Pay the change fee of 5000pt+fare difference if one becomes available, if not you still get a good trip and arrive together. If it's on the A380 you can at least hang out at the bar.

Book outbound and inbound separately.

Outbound as soon as available, travelling midweek and outside school holidays.

Then when the return flight is available, try the same thing.

I was in the same predicament for my Wife and I. I opted for one seat in F, one day apart under separate bookings. Worse case scenario we fly Syd-Bru via Dxb a day apart but am hoping closer to departure the extra seat will become available. Then just have to pay the 5,000 point booking change fee. Our flights are for late February 25 and I was able to Dummy book the same 2 seats within 7 days of departure for February 24 which gives me some hope extra seats may be available closer to departure date.

Lifetime bronze QFF member here. Booking separately had worked for me on one occasion the other it failed. These were J seats.

I would suggest using a tool like ExpertFlyer to check how many award seats are available. The instance where it worked for me, it was most likely 2+seats available however they only wanted to give one per Bronze member.

The time it didn’t work required me to be on the phone for multiple hours, making a complaint which after many calls I got put onto an Australian operator that open up a seat to shut me up. This was back when I didn’t understand how availability worked and I was just booking on what I saw when logging in on two different accounts. I don’t recommend going down the low odds verbal jujitsu route.

Just so im understanding this correctly, you're saying as a Qantas Bronze FF member you called Qantas and got them to release an extra Emirates reward seat on an Emirates flight?
