Hi, I have booked EK unsing ff's for Dubai to Cairo and at the end of the booking a flagged warning came up that they are unable to process credit cards at Qantas in Dubai and will email a form to be completed and until then the tickets wont be issued???

Today I get the form emailed and I have to say that I am not comfortable in having to fax my credit card details along with a copy of my drivers license to Qantas Ticketing DNATA. It does say to only fax the first and last 4 digits. Has anyone else found this yet and what are your thoughts?

I cant believe that in this day and age and Qantas knowing what was about to happen with bookings etc. that we are made to fax credit card details.

Interesting one, better than BKK where you have to rock up in person to the office, it does warn you when you enter in DXB as a departure point when you search though

Yes I did see that and didn't think much of it at the time but I just think it's odd asking for the details after I had entered them in at the end anyway, and a copy of my drivers license. I suppose I am wondering why more than anything? Surely QF would have a better system in Dubai that this.

I think its probably related to the fact its essentially an Islamic banking based society (DIB is the largest bank in Dubai - Dubai Islamic Bank - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) where interest is banned. As a result the banking system is very different locally to ours, on the day of the tie up launch the paper carried the tie up story, on the same page was one about the introduction of direct deposits!
