Etihad is currently running a promo "celebrating 10 years of partnership" with Virgin Australia.
If you book an Etihad flight from Australia to Abu Dhabi (or beyond) you'll receive 7,800 Etihad Guest (for Economy class bookings) or 15,500 Etihad Guest miles (for Business/First class bookings). Etihad says this is enough to redeem for a Virgin Australia flight.
The bizarre part about this promo is that you have to enter your Etihad Guest number on the booking and you'll earn bonus Etihad Guest miles. But the amounts of bonus miles offered correspond to reward seat pricing for Velocity redemptions on VA - not Etihad Guest redemptions! With Etihad Guest, it costs 6,900 miles for a VA flight in Y or 13,800 miles for J.
