Bonza Airline Discussion

The 4 Bonza units are either going to Enter Air (which also has a NTU Bonza 737-8 MAX) or all 4 are going BACK to LOT (as their original customer that NTU-ed the Bonza units).

ordinarily it’s 90/120 days for mastercard and visa. However in cases where the transaction date ks for supply in the future, you *may* have up to 540 days to request a chargeback.

I’d check with your bank on this. It should hopefully be covered.
Good news, my credit card's complimentary travel insurance didn't stiff me. Claim accepted save for $200 excess. Was lucky as just heard back from Qantas yesterday, Qantas wasn't prepared to offer a goodwill refund of flights booked before they announced they were offering free flights, only a goodwill offer of 8,000 points.

Pretty good outcome in the end all things considered.

Last MCY aircraft Shazza is out tomorrow at 8 according to a post on my Facebook feed.

That leaves only 1 left at OOL.

If anyone would be looking at restarting some of the routes I’d think it would be QQ. The mix of Fokkers and Embraers should allow them to get an appropriate aircraft on some of the leisure routes.

I wonder how much spare capacity they have?

QQ did fly MCY-CNS for a while from mid 2020 (post first lockdown) until early 2022.

You wouldn’t be able to drive the demand that Bonza did if it wasn’t for the lower cost fares, QQ would be double/triple anything that Bonza charged. Really just another Qantas entering the routes with high fares. They operated MCY-CNS prior but fares didn’t come cheap.

I really think JQ could go MCY-CNS seasonal. Aside from that one, I don’t think many of these will ever see the light of day again, especially most of the intra QLD routes. Perhaps a MCY-Tasmania route. Don’t forget QF wouldn’t send in JQ to many of these as it just erodes its margin at Qlink who rely on connector traffic.

Looks like it still hasn't left yet, but can see there are flight plans for the aircraft.
Apparently engine issues with #2. Delayed for the moment. Considering crew hours likely cancelled as they fly right through to KUL

The administrators are going to court on Monday to try and push the second creditors meeting (decision meeting) from June to August for the following reasons:

(a) the Administrators are conducting a sale campaign to sell the Business of the
Companies. The sale campaign remains ongoing and is unlikely to be conducted
before the end of the convening period;

(b) if the sale campaign is not able to reach completion prior to the Second Creditors
Meeting, it is likely that the value attributable to Bonza’s primary asset, an air
operator’s certificate, will be lost; and

(c) the Administrators’ preliminary investigations have revealed potential legal claims
which require further investigation before the Administrators can properly report to creditors.

This paragraph is also making news in some News Corp publications:

"On 21 May 2024, the Administrators were informed by 777 Partners, who we understand to be the ultimate holding company of Bonza and 777 Holdco domiciled in the United States,
that it may wish to propose a Deed of Company Arrangement (DOCA) to restructure the
Companies as a group. The Administrators have not yet received a proposal for a DOCA
from 777 Partners".
